The Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust

What we were asked for

The Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney was approaching its 200th anniversary and needed a new story to unite its diverse teams, to communicate a more sophisticated offering and to engage its other sites – the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mt Tomah, and the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan.

Our differentiated solution

Recognising that the Sydney Botanic Gardens is a place of incredible cultural significance we set about researching everything that made the gardens iconic.

We worked alongside internal teams, guiding, focussing and finessing their stories into a single place with many chapters.

The engagement delivered some extraordinary findings that we mapped onto external stakeholder and consumer research to further inform the strategy.

We then designed that differentiation into a strategy that reflected the five pillars of practice: horticulture, education, science, conservation and recreation. The unique tree of voice bubbles was widely praised for its friendliness and usability.
